SWRO Desalination Plant Production Manager

For our client, one of the most important South African companies in the Water market, we are looking for a SWRO Desalination Plant Production Manager, freelance, in order to cover the position for 6 months with a chance to obtain a long-term contract in case of successful performance.

Required Qualifications & Experience

1. Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, environmental, process or mechanical engineering from an accredited University.  A related technical master’s degree would be an advantage.
2. Minimum of 12 years post-graduate experience, of which 8 years spent in seawater desalination project execution, commissioning, or operation and 4 years in a plant/operation/production management role.
3. Proven experience in optimization and process improvement.
4. Proven hands-on experience working with ultrafiltration (UF), reverse osmosis (RO), energy recovery devices (ERD), and other typical seawater desalination equipment and technologies.
5. Seawater desalination plant process/equipment design experience beneficial.

Valuable advantages

1. A business administration qualification would be an advantage.
2. Member- or Chartership of an Accredited Professional Institution would be an advantage.
3. Familiarity, understanding or experience in Siemens PLC process automation and
4. Adroit SCADA systems would be a great advantage.
5. PMP credential

General

1. Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken, with excellent technical oral and writing skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
2. Strong leadership quality to lead and motivate a large team of multi-discipline technical and professional staff.
3. Can do and hands-on attitude with flexibility to work outside of your comfort zone and learn on the job.
4. Computer skills are mandatory (Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, or equivalent).
5. Experience working in Southern African countries would be beneficial.
