Manila Water’s 200 MLD East Bay Treatment Plant on track for completion this year

  • Manila Water’s 200 MLD East Bay Treatment Plant on track for completion this year
Once completed, the East Bay PH2 water treatment plant, which is part of the East Bay Water Supply System Project, will benefit over 2 million customers along the Laguna Lake shoreline in Rizal, as well as the cities of Taguig, Pateros, and Pasig.

About the entity

Manila Water Company
Manila Water Company, Inc. is the exclusive provider of water and used water services to over six million people in the Manila Water Concession, particularly the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal Province.

Manila Water’s 200 million-liter-per-day (MLD) Water Treatment Plant (WTP) under the East Bay Phase 2 project is on track for completion by the third quarter of 2025.

Once completed, the new P7.84-billion (about USD 134 million) facility will enhance the company’s service coverage across the East Zone concession, significantly benefiting areas along the Laguna Lake shoreline in Rizal, as well as the cities of Taguig, Pateros, and Pasig.

This facility is a critical component of the East Bay Water Supply System, which is expected to serve approximately 2.08 million customers. This new facility will considerably expand the water supply and help ease the load on the Angat water system. It will also help sustain water service to Metro Manila, especially during the drier months.

The treatment plant in Brgy. Kabulusan in Pakil, Laguna, will be connected to a transmission pipeline that stretches across the local roads of Pakil and Jalajala, following the nautical highway of Central Bay Laguna Lake, crossing the Binangonan-Cardona, and continuing along the shorelines of West Bay Laguna Lake.

“As the East Bay Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant is taking shape, we are also constantly improving and expanding our network distribution. That is why we greatly appreciate our partner local government units in Rizal for assisting us in our construction activities,” Manila Water Communication Affairs Group Director Jeric Sevilla said.

As of December 2024, the East Bay PH2 WTP is 65.41% complete. Manila Water’s project team, together with the support from the local government and private contractors, is working diligently to meet the target completion date by Q3 of 2025.
