Ramsar
The Convention on Wetlands, called the Ramsar Convention, is the intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.

Jay Aldous is the newly appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and officially assumed this role at the Secretariat on 1 May 2019. 

Jay Aldous has been serving as the Director of Resource Mobilization and Outreach for the Ramsar Convention since September 2017. Previously he served as a Division Director at the UN World Food Programme where he was responsible for partnerships and resource mobilization, and as the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF where he oversaw all communications, marketing and fundraising for UNICEF in the United States. He brings to this important position more than 30 years of experience in management, governance, resource mobilization, communications and working in various capacities with Member States.

Jay Aldous replaces Jonathan Barzdo who retired from the Deputy Secretary General position in December of 2018.
