Brazil’s sanitation company Aegea Saneamento has been awarded two sewage services PPP contracts in Ceará, a state located in the northeastern part of the country. The contracts are expected to generate investments of 6.2 billion reais (US$1.15 billion), reports BN Americas.
Cagece, the open-capital water company controlled by the State of Ceará, will be Aegea’s partner and the contract is divided into two blocks and includes works in 24 municipalities.
The first block of the contract involves 17 municipalities and a capex of 2.68 billion reais and the second block is worth 3.54 billion reais, 2.54 billion reais of which will be dedicated to the state capital Fortaleza.
With these contracts, Aegea takes a further step to consolidate its position as the largest private sanitation firm in the sector still dominated by state firms, says BN Americas.
