Ion Exchange, a prominent water and environmental management company based in India, has secured a major contract through its subsidiary in Oman. The long-term deal, valued at RO73.5 million ($190.4 million), was awarded by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to enhance the company’s water and sewage infrastructure in the region.
Ion Exchange operates in Oman via a joint venture with Hofincons & Co., known as Ion Exchange & Company. Hofincons brings expertise in industrial asset management, particularly within the oil and gas sector.
The joint venture provides a range of water and wastewater treatment solutions to various industries, including steel, oil & gas, and beverages, as well as municipal and institutional customers in Oman.
Under the new agreement, Ion Exchange will be responsible for the design, construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of both a potable water facility and a sewage treatment plant in the South PDO Concession Area. The 20-year contract emphasizes PDO’s focus on sustainable infrastructure and environmental management.
The project aims to ensure continuous access to clean water and efficient sewage processing, benefiting both PDO’s operations and the surrounding communities in the concession area.
