Lantania is expanding its international footprint with its first project in North Macedonia, securing a €21.7 million (excluding taxes) contract to design and build a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in the southwestern city of Bitola.
Awarded by the Macedonian Ministry of Environment to a consortium comprising Lantania, Greece’s Karkanias Technologies, and local partner Stenton Gradba, the project will serve an equivalent population of 112,474 residents and treat an average daily flow of 27,090 m³.
The facility will feature advanced infrastructure for efficient, sustainable wastewater treatment, including administration buildings, preliminary treatment systems, sludge dewatering, electrical substations, and a blower room. A SCADA system will oversee real-time monitoring and control of operations.
Key components will include an overflow structure, primary clarifiers, activated sludge biological reactors, secondary clarifiers, a disinfection unit, and a sludge recirculation and pumping station. The design also incorporates anaerobic sludge digestion, biogas production, and sludge storage, alongside all necessary piping for current needs and future expansions.
