Sabah Agadir newspaper has revealed Morocco is set to develop a large seawater desalination facility along its Northern Mediterranean coast to enhance the region’s drinking water supply, reports Zawya.
The plant will be located in the port city of Tangier and will have a production capacity of approximately 150 million cubic meters annually. The project is slated for completion in 2028.
Citing official sources, the newspaper stated that the government plans to involve the private sector in partially financing the initiative.
“The private sector will also have a shareholding in the project, which will support the country’s efforts to face climatic changes and ensure water security,” it added.
