The Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company (Nama Water Services) will award a contract for the design and monitoring of Water Distribution Networks Extension Projects, reports Zawya. The contract award is expected in the fourth quarter of 2023, and the geographic scope will be all governorates except Dhofar.
The Sultanate is investing in new transmission projects and overhauling existing ones to ensure water security. The efforts, launched by the Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company, are complemented by investments in new potable water capacity across the nation.
A project source said that “the design and supervision consultancy contract is expected to be awarded by end of November 2023”. A tender was issued last July 27, and bids are to be submitted by next September 4. The project will entail the construction, supply and installation of the pipeline networks for water transport.
Seven companies have been prequalified for the project, which is valued at $100 million. Completion is planned early in 2026.
