Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) released a statement this week announcing it had issued a request for proposals (RFP) for Jubail 4 and 6 Independent Water Project (Jubail 4&6) to the pre-qualified bidders.
The desalination plant will be located 18 kilometers south of Jubail Industrial City on the Arabian Gulf Coast, near the existing plant units (Jubail Phase 1, Jubail Phase 2, Jubail 3A & 3B) within the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The desalination project of 600,000 cubic metres/day (m3/day) is expected to start commercial operations in the third quarter of 2027, revealed SWPC.
At the end of September, SWPC announced a list of nine prequalified bidders, including ACCIONA, ACWA Power, GS Inima and Marubeni Corporation.
The winning bidder, through the establishment of a project company, will oversee the Project's development and supply the complete capacity and output to SWPC under a 25-year concession, as outlined in a Water Purchase Agreement (WPA).
