Four months after announcing the Request for Qualification (RFQ) to the interested firms for the Rabigh 4 Independent Water Project (IWP), Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has preselected eight groups to bid for the plant.
The desalination facility is to be designed using reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology and will have a capacity of 600,000 cubic meters of water per day. It will be located in Rabigh, 180 km northwest of Makkah, on the coast of the Red Sea in the Western Province of the Kingdom.
The project will be developed under a 25-year water purchase agreement (WPA), which will be supported by a credit support agreement from the Saudi government.
The Rabigh 4 Independent Water Project is part of Saudi Arabia’s program to build sixteen IWPs to service various areas of the country.
