Tunisia's national sanitation utility, known as l’Office National de l’Assainissement de la Tunisie, has announced plans to allocate funds from loans provided by the EBRD and AfDB. The aim is to support the Small Cities Sanitation Programme, Phase 1 (PAPC-I), which focuses on communities with fewer than 10,000 residents.
The allocated funds will be used to finance the establishment of a wastewater treatment plant in Bir Ali Ben Khalifa, situated in the Sfax governorate in the eastern region of Tunisia, reports ESI Africa.
The deadline for submissions is set for July 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. local time in Tunis.
The project requires various tasks, including the construction of a "Turnkey" wastewater treatment plant using the activated sludge process at low load, with tertiary treatment capabilities. The plant is expected to have a capacity of 1,360 cubic meters per day and handle 600 kilograms of biochemical oxygen demand (DBO5) per day. Additionally, the project entails the establishment of a system for transferring treated wastewater.
Participation in the tender is open to natural or legal entities with the necessary technical and financial capacities and references to ensure the successful execution of the project.
The procurement process also involves the engagement of specialized companies for the supply, transportation, assembly, and testing of mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical equipment. Civil engineering firms participating in the bidding process must possess approval for road works and various networks, meeting specified criteria.
Bidders have the option to participate individually or as part of a solidary or joint group, with a designated leader. In cases where the lead partner is a civil engineering company, it must hold the required approvals for participation.
This initiative underscores Tunisia's commitment to enhancing sanitation infrastructure and environmental sustainability in its communities.
