EPM, the Medellin based public utilities service company completed a one year pilot and renews its contract with TaKaDu as their Central Event Management software provider.
Owned by the Municipality of Medellin, EPM (Empresas Públicas de Medellín) provides electric power, gas, water, and sanitation services to municipalities in Antioquia, Medellín and the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley and serves 3.6 million inhabitants.
“In only one year, we have seen great benefit from implementing TaKaDu’s Central Event Management (CEM) in our network” said Juan Carlos Restrepo Benitez, head of Integrated Operation department at EPM. "The greatest benefit to EPM has been the increased network near real-time visibility of events in terms of their identification, location and estimation of magnitude. For example: Instead of having to survey large areas to find a leak, we now use the DMA sizes and we significantly reduced the size of areas we need to survey”
“The system helped us to reduce costs by knowing what is wrong, shortening the repair cycles, avoid failures, major damages and further network deterioration. In terms of operations, we have reduced the time we are looking & analyzing data by more than a half” said Carlos Humberto Palacio Sierra, head of NRW team in EPM. “In addition, we have seen increased customer satisfaction due to increased service uptime and network availability”
“TaKaDu is very proud to receive this vote of confidence from EPM” said Amir Peleg, TaKaDu’s Founder & CEO. “EPM is one of the world’s data driven utilities and is well known as being highly progressive and technologically advanced. We are thrilled to be part of their digital journey and their usage of CEM to improve efficiency and service. Colombia is an advanced market and we welcome other utilities to follow the lead of EPM, embrace the technology and enjoy its benefits”
