Aqualia enters the US market with the purchase of water company Municipal District Services

  • In partnership with MDS, Aqualia commences operations in Texas – the US’ second-largest and fastest growing state by population.

Aqualia, in keeping with its strategy for international growth, has acquired a controlling stake in the company Municipal District Services, LLC (MDS), that manages the end-to-end water cycle for more than 364,000 people on the outskirts of Houston and has approximately 140 service agreements with Municipal Utility Districts.

MDS, recognized for its more than 16 years of dedicated service, is the second-largest provider of water, wastewater and stormwater services in the Houston area for municipal utility districts, managing all aspects of the water cycle, and providing customers with comprehensive management. Its “family company” culture rooted in service and focused on the customer aligns perfectly with Aqualia´s culture of people-centered public service.

With this acquisition, Aqualia will take on the development of this business with an aim of becoming one of the leading operators in the southern United States.
