Finding a water company that suits the specific needs of your business is wise, especially if you’re in a niche industry and you’re keen to work with a supplier that truly understands what your requirements are.

Farmers, for example, might be tempted to switch water supplier and make the move to Welsh Water after hearing that the company is now offering those in the sector a free pesticide collection and disposal service, part of plans to help protect raw water quality.

According to Farmers Weekly, the move is part of Welsh Water’s PestSmart project, removing any out-of-date, unwanted or unlicensed products and on offer on a free basis to growers, farmers, foresters, gamekeepers and land managers.

Interested parties have until September 30th to register for the scheme, with a maximum limit of 30kg or 30 litres per collection, although contractors will take more if required at a rate of £3.20 per litre/kg.

Welsh Water said: “Chemicals must stay in their original containers so we know what they are. Don’t worry if this means you have lots of containers with only small amounts. Our contractor will advise you how best to store your chemicals until they are collected.”

As a business, you’re now able to change water supplier in order to take advantage of better rates, better customer service and reduced water bills. But it can be hard to find the right kind of supplier for you and your company, especially if you’ve never tried to switch before.

The English water retail market opened up back in 2017, giving the majority of businesses across England the power to choose their own supplier for the first time.

Before deregulation of the old market, companies had no choice but to have water supplied by a local company but the move a few years ago saw England’s water supply brought in line with that of Scotland, which opened up its retail market in 2008.

It’s worth getting experienced and professional water consultants on board when trying to switch, as they can help you every step of the way. We can carry out a full audit of your water usage and present billing so we can compare your current charges with the rates available from other suppliers in order to find you the best deal going.

We can also manage the changeover on your behalf, which includes the complicated process of consolidating lots of different bills into one. And then once you’ve made the move to switch, we can carry on offering you support through ongoing bill validation to make sure you get the best value available.

There are all sorts of benefits to switching, from making cost savings with better tariffs to improved service, finding a supplier that specialises in services for your industry and consolidating all your water supply across numerous sites with one supplier.
