Aqualia secures water supply in Corpus Christi, Texas, with a state-of-the-art desalination plant
Aqualia will take on the design, construction, and operation of an emergency desalination plant in Corpus Christi, Texas, as part of a $175 million public investment program to strengthen the city's water security. The company will also operate the modular reverse osmosis plant for five years; the facility will be operational in less than one year, in response to a historic drought that has left the city's reservoirs at just 9.5 percent of capacity. The contract reinforces Aqualia's presence in the North American market through its Texas operating platform, Municipal District Services (MDS), and reaffirms its position as a global leader in the full water cycle, as well as in engineering and large-scale treatment facilities.

Aqualia renews the management contract for the Abu Rawash wastewater treatment plant in Egypt
Abu Rawash is the third-largest wastewater treatment plant in Africa: it treats 1.6 million cubic meters per day and serves over six million people. The agreement, which coincides with the visit of the Spanish Royals to the country and the participation of Aqualia’s CEO in the Business Forum held today in Cairo, is a recognition of the quality of service provided by the company since its commissioning and ensures the continuity of a key infrastructure. In addition to this plant, Aqualia manages other strategic facilities for the development of the North African country, such as the New Cairo wastewater treatment plant and the El Alamein desalination plant.
Aqualia begins operations in Peru with a wastewater treatment project
The company has been awarded the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of a wastewater treatment system in Chincha (Peru), which will directly benefit 345,000 people. The initiative, which involves an investment of €92 million, was declared of interest in October 2024 by ProInversión, the Peruvian agency for the promotion of private investment.
Investors and analysts endorse Aqualia’s strong financial position
The company has successfully completed the issuance of a green bond for 300 million dollars in its Georgia subsidiary (GGU), which will finance sustainable-development projects in the country. Two reports issued in July by the rating agencies Fitch and Standard & Poor's maintained Aqualia's investment grade rating (BBB-) with a stable outlook.

Aqualia appoints Santiago Lafuente as new CEO
Aqualia's Board of Directors has appointed Santiago Lafuente, current director for Spain, as the company's new CEO. He takes over from Félix Parra, who has held the position since 2013 and is reaching retirement. The appointment will be effective as of 9th April. Lafuente is one of the great experts in the water management sector. He has held various functions and responsibilities in Aqualia for more than 30 years and his appointment represents a clear commitment to continuity when it comes to renewing the management team. Aqualia's Board of Directors has recognised and thanked Félix Parra for his work over the years, "whose hard work and dedication have contributed enormously to Aqualia's growth and evolution".
