
Dr Eduardo Martínez-Gomariz is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), within the Flumen Research Institute. His research focuses on urban flood risk management, hydraulic modelling, climate resilience, and the assessment of flood impacts on critical infrastructure and urban systems. He has extensive experience in European and national research and innovation projects, combining academic research with applied work in the water sector. His recent work addresses flood hazard and risk assessment in urban environments, including underground transport infrastructure, pedestrian and vehicle stability, and direct tangible damage modelling.
Paloma Batanero Ackerman holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). She is a specialist in gravity and pressurized network modelling and an expert in the integration of real-time digital twins.
With over twenty-two years of experience, she has played a key role in the digitalization of the water cycle at HR Wallingford (United Kingdom), Innovyze (Spain and Latin America), and Akerman Water (internationally). Her professional career also includes digitalization projects in urban water management, river flooding, and irrigation systems for leading organizations such as Elliot Cloud (Aguas de Barcelona, Aguas de Tenerife, SABESP), TYPSA (Chiclayo and Paita sanitation systems), and Inés Ingenieros (conventional-gauge railway projects), among many others.
In addition, she shares her expertise as a lecturer at Alfonso X el Sabio University in Madrid, teaching subjects related to Hydrology, Sanitation, Drainage, and Port Engineering.

Dr Edwar Forero-Ortiz is a Researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC), within the Flumen Research Institute. His research focuses on hydraulic modelling, urban flood resilience, machine learning for water infrastructure asset management, and climate change adaptation. He contributed to the EU-funded RESCCUE project on urban resilience to climate change, employing advanced hydroinformatics tools for flood risk assessment in cities including Barcelona. His recent work addresses the development of machine learning models for predicting pipe failures and optimising long-term renewal strategies in metropolitan water distribution networks, as well as multi-scale flood risk evaluation in underground transport systems. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from UPC and has co-authored publications in the fields of water engineering, flood modelling, and climate resilience.

Well-rounded Civil Engineer with a strong background in numerical modelling, experimental testing, structural dynamics, soil mechanics, hydraulics, and research. Skilled in collaborating with cities, water utilities, municipalities, consultants, and contractors to enhance existing practices and drive digital transformation across the water sector. Brings expertise in delivering best-in-class solutions grounded in hydraulic and hydrological design, modelling, and sustainability principles. Hasanain and his team have supported multiple regional clients in advancing their digital transformation agendas, improving performance, resilience, and long-term operational efficiency.
With over a decade of experience in drainage, hydraulic modelling and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), Dr. Samer has led complex infrastructure projects across highways, railways, and airports delivering feasibility studies, detailed designs, cost-benefit analyses, and advanced hydraulic modelling.
He currently serves as the Product Manager of Storm, Sewer, Flood software at Autodesk, leading the development and global adoption InfoWorks ICM. Samer's work integrates technical leadership with strategic direction to shape tools that enable effective and sustainable water management.

With hands-on experience in major infrastructure and water projects, he has worked with leading consultants such as Stantec, Dar Al Handasa, and Khatib & Alami. currently works with regional clients to adopt advanced water solutions, using digital technologies to improve infrastructure resilience and sustainability across the EMEA region
Environmental and Land Engineer with a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering Sciences and over 10 years of experience in the water sector. She coordinates projects that integrate hydraulic engineering, data science, numerical modeling, and digital solutions for urban water management. She is the reference lead for the iCG platform, which, through the iCG Monitoring module, enables understanding of the behavior of sewer and urban drainage systems and supports their smart management with iCG Digital Twin.
