World Environment Day is celebrated every 5 June to raise awareness of today's most pressing environmental issues. This year's theme focuses on ecosystem restoration and the United Nations believes that our time has come: "We cannot turn back the clock. But we can grow trees, green our cities, replant our gardens with wild species, change our diets and clean up rivers and coastlines. We are the generation that can make peace with nature.
