On June 7th ACCIONA, together with Indaqua Oliveira de Azeméis, opened the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) at Ul, located in the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis in north-west Portugal, around 48 kilometres from Porto.
The project, representing an investment of 2.5 million euros, has a planned daily volume of 1,654 m3 and will provide a service to a population equivalent of 13,260 people.
ACCIONA, through its Water Division, undertook the entire supply and assembly of the equipment and the electricity system, as well as the automation and start-up of the plant.
The new WTP plant at Ul has a compact pre-treatment system: biological reactor with prolonged aeration; secondary settling; thickening of sludge by gravity and dehydration and deodorization.
The Portuguese company Indaqua Oliveira de Azeméis has operated and managed the public water supply and collection systems and wastewater treatment of the municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis since 2014.
ACCIONA has a strong presence in Portugal through its Water business. It has 25 wastewater treatment plants and 5 potable water plants in the country, providing a service to 2.3 million people, almost 25% of the total population.
