About the entity

ACCIONA
The water business of ACCIONA concentrates on water treatment and reverse osmosis desalination, a technology in which it is the world leader.

ACCIONA has been awarded the contract for the maintenance and conservation of the Automatic Water Information Networks (SAIH-SAICA-ROEA) of the Guadalquivir Water Board (CHG) through a joint venture with Schneider Electric and Solutia. The contract is for two years, extendable for another two, and has a budget of 8.4 million euros.

The project sets out to maintain, conserve, extend and improve the installations that make up the Water Information Networks (SAIH-SAICA-ROEA) of the Guadalquivir Water Board to achieve greater efficiency and sustainability.

The contract includes the coordination and validation of data in the River Basin Processing Centre and the maintenance of control points, as well as the extension and improvement of the SCADA system, into which a Decision Support Tool will be incorporated. This tool will use real-time data and mathematical models to anticipate scenarios in order to facilitate the decision-making process. The system’s remote stations will also be renewed through data acquisition via the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Automatic Water Information Networks (SAIH) are the main tool for providing real-time information on the river basin and preventing adverse situations in the event of drought or flooding

The Guadalquivir Water Board is a public body that reports to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, and is responsible for the end-to-end management of the water resources in the Guadalquivir river basin.

The Automatic Water Information Networks (SAIH) are the main tool for providing real-time information on the river basin and preventing adverse situations in the event of drought or flooding. These networks send early warnings to the civil protection bodies.

The system has a Data Processing Centre, located in Seville, which monitors the main variables that affect the operation of the river basin at more than 220 control points via the SCADA (System Control and Data Acquisition), including hydrometeorological data (rainfall, temperature or humidity) and quality control of the water (level and flow rate). The Automatic Water Information Networks also include capacity measurement stations (ROEA) and the SAICA network, which collects data on water quality.
