- Aganova strengthens its position in Spain as a leading provider of in-service pipeline inspection technologies for major water infrastructure.
- The project will support smarter and more sustainable water management across Catalonia.
Aganova, a global leader in leak detection and water loss management solutions, has been awarded a strategic contract by ATL (Ens d’Abastament d’Aigua Ter-Llobregat), the public company responsible for the production and supply of drinking water through the Ter-Llobregat network in Catalonia, to inspect its water transmission system using advanced wireless, acoustic and free-swimming inspection technology.
The 24-month project includes the inspection of 74.83 km of pipelines across the Xarxa Nord and Xarxa Sud networks, two critical components of the water transmission system operated by ATL.
The inspections will focus on some of the most critical sections of the network, where traditional surface-based leak detection methods face significant limitations due to factors such as pipeline depth, diameter, material, and the distance between access points.
To address these challenges, the project will rely on an inline inspection approach, allowing assessments to be carried out from inside the pipeline while the system remains fully operational. This methodology maximizes operational efficiency and minimizes disruption to water supply services.
Aganova’s technology provides advanced capabilities to:
- Detect leaks and air pockets
- Accurately locate structural anomalies
- Generate critical data to support strategic asset management decisions
This contract further strengthens the long-standing relationship between Aganova and ATL, following previous collaborations in 2015 and 2019. On this occasion, Aganova achieved the highest technical score in the tender process, reinforcing its position as a trusted technology partner for the advanced inspection of water transmission networks.
Marcos Barrera, CEO of Aganova, commented: “This contract award recognizes not only the strength of our technical proposal, but also the trust we have built over time with ATL. Being selected with the highest technical evaluation for a project of this complexity reinforces our commitment to innovation in critical infrastructure management and to developing solutions that provide reliable data for informed decision-making.”
This contract award represents another important milestone for Aganova, strengthening its leadership in the field of in-service pipeline inspection in Spain, particularly for large-diameter water transmission mains. It also reinforces the company’s contribution to improving water efficiency and the resilience of critical infrastructure.
Aganova particularly values the trust placed by ATL in an innovative in-service inspection solution that enables assessments to be performed without interrupting operations, setting a new benchmark for the advanced management of water transmission networks.
