As part of its commitment to innovation in water network management, Aganova has collaborated with EMALCSA (A Coruña Municipal Water Utility) to conduct an advanced audit of the Almeiras–Monte Mero pipeline section, a key infrastructure asset supplying the city and its metropolitan area.
The inspection successfully detected and precisely located a high-severity leak without the need for service disruption or invasive interventions. At the same time, the results confirmed the overall sound condition of the pipeline, providing EMALCSA with objective technical validation of the effectiveness of its maintenance strategy.

Given the challenges associated with assessing this type of infrastructure using traditional methods, EMALCSA relied on Aganova’s Nautilus technology, a non-invasive diagnostic solution that inspects the interior of pipelines using pressure, acoustic, and motion sensors, with data subsequently analyzed through artificial intelligence algorithms.
During the operation, the device traveled more than 3,500 meters of pipeline at an approximate flow rate of 800 m³/h. Data analysis identified a leak with an estimated loss rate between 11.38 and 27.93 m³/h. The repair has since been prioritized by the utility operator.
This information will enable EMALCSA to focus maintenance efforts, reduce water losses, and continue optimizing the operation of its transmission network.
“This project demonstrates how technology can transform water management. Detecting a critical leak without excavations or service interruptions is a key step toward more efficient and sustainable management.” — Marcos Barrera, CEO of Aganova.
"Thanks to our collaboration with Aganova and the use of technologies such as Nautilus, we have been able to respond quickly and accurately to a critical issue, reinforcing our ability to provide reliable and efficient service across the A Coruña metropolitan area." — Adrián López Orol, Civil Engineer and Head of Water Supply Network Department, EMALCSA.
This project reinforces EMALCSA’s commitment to technological innovation as a core asset management strategy and marks another step forward in the deployment of intelligent inspection solutions in Galicia.
