Almar Water Solutions acquires full ownership of its Australian subsidiary
- The company finalises the acquisition of the remaining 30% of its Australian subsidiary, having initially acquired a 70% stake in December 2022.
- The rebranding to Almar Water Solutions Australia was completed in June 2025, consolidating its role as a key regional platform for the group.
Almar Water Solutions, a leading company in the development of sustainable water infrastructure and water services, and part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, has announced the acquisition of the remaining 30% of its Australian subsidiary, making it the sole owner of the company, now operating under the name Almar Water Solutions Australia.
This transaction builds upon the initial acquisition made in December 2022, when Almar Water Solutions secured a 70% majority stake in Aqualyng Australia, a company specialising in water treatment and reuse solutions for both industrial and municipal sectors. In June 2025, the company completed its strategic and operational integration through a rebranding to Almar Water Solutions Australia, aligning the local entity with the group’s global identity and vision.
“The full acquisition of our Australian subsidiary reflects our strong confidence in the local team and the significant potential of the Australian market. It represents a solid, flexible and growing platform that is central to our regional expansion strategy,” stated Carlos Cosín, CEO of Almar Water Solutions.
With this transaction, Almar Water Solutions continues to strengthen its regional platform model, based on local presence, technical excellence and the ability to adapt to each territory’s specific needs
Australia has become a priority market for Almar Water Solutions, not only due to its advanced regulatory framework and growing need for sustainable water solutions, but also for its synergies with other projects and regional platforms within the group. Since entering the country, Almar has strengthened its technical, operational and management capabilities, including the appointment of a new CEO and other key leadership positions to support the next stage of development.
Among the flagship projects under development is the WestSide Project, located in Queensland, which is the first industrial water project in Australia to be structured under a BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) model. The plant, now in operation, treats up to 2,000 m³/day of water for WestSide Corporation, a company in the oil & gas sector, using advanced technologies such as dissolved air flotation, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis.
“This new chapter as an integral part of Almar Water Solutions strengthens our position in the market and opens the door to new growth opportunities. The backing of the group has been instrumental in delivering projects like WestSide, and we remain focused on providing innovative solutions to our clients and communities across Australia,” said Ashok Damodaran, CEO of Almar Water Solutions Australia.
With this transaction, Almar Water Solutions continues to strengthen its regional platform model, based on local presence, technical excellence and the ability to adapt to each territory’s specific needs. The Australian experience adds to successful cases in Latin America and North Africa, reinforcing the company’s commitment to leading the development of innovative, resilient and sustainable water solutions.
