About the entity

Diehl Metering
Company specialized in smart metering systems engineering and engineering services. Provides the complete process chain from measurement to invoicing, including services and solutions enabling to tackle Non-Revenue Water or drive asset management.

During a recent webinar on approaches to minimizing losses in water networks, organized in collaboration with Smart Water Magazine, Thorkil Neergaard, CEO of Brønderslev Forsyning, showcased how implementing Water Loss Management software by Diehl Metering has transformed operations at the Danish water and district heating utility. Over nearly two years, the system has helped reduce water loss by nearly half, with Neergaard crediting data-driven strategies and advanced analytics for enabling swift detection and resolution of leaks in their 22 District Metered Areas.

Neergaard emphasized the broader benefits of smart meters, which go beyond billing to offer critical insights for operational improvements. From January 2023 to September 2024, the utility warned 600 customers about in-house leaks, preventing waste and saving money. Staff commitment, alongside technology, was highlighted as key to these achievements, ensuring rapid responses to potential issues and long-term efficiency gains.

The presentation also underscored the economic and community advantages of smart metering. Neergaard demonstrated how the integration of data, infrastructure, and human expertise can enhance service reliability, conserve water, and improve overall performance, providing a roadmap for other utilities aiming to modernize their operations.
