GHD, a global professional services company operating in the markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation, has been chosen to lead the process design of the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor Desalination Treatment Plant. This transformative project, which will deliver 30-million gallons of fresh water per day, is a collaboration between GHD, prime contractor Kiewit Infrastructure South Co. and Corpus Christi Water. It is the first large-scale seawater desalination facility in the area.
In a region of persistent dry conditions and limited water resources, the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor Desalination Treatment Plant will be a vital asset in securing long-term water sustainability for Texas. GHD will lead the process design as well as provide expertise in marine construction, monitoring the environment surrounding the intake and discharge systems and work with the prime contractor and the City to select the equipment provider.
“Water security is essential to the health of our communities and the environment. This desalination plant demonstrates GHD’s ability to bring global expertise to local projects that supply much-needed water resources,” said Mark Donovan, North America Water Treatment and Desalination Lead. “By implementing lessons learned and best practices from desalination projects we’ve worked on around the world, we were able to craft solutions specifically tailored to the needs of the Corpus Christi region.”
