Granite announced a $21 million joint venture contract by the City of Atlanta for the Sewer Group Three Rehabilitation, Contract D project in Atlanta, Georgia. The contract was awarded to Granite Inliner, a division of Granite’s newly formed Water and Mineral Services Group, in joint venture with T&J Industries Development & Contracting Inc. Granite booked its 60 percent share of the $21 million joint venture project into its fourth quarter 2018 backlog.
“This award highlights the significant opportunities for our Granite Inliner business as well as the overall growth prospects in the rehabilitation, water and wastewater markets provided by our recent acquisitions," said James H. Roberts, President and Chief Executive Officer of Granite.
This project is part of the City of Atlanta's consent decree program to upgrade aging infrastructure. The multi-disciplined contract covers a wide variety of renewal technologies and construction management services. Once complete, this project will have replaced or repaired 50,000 linear feet of small diameter sanitary sewer pipes situated in the Sugar Creek Sewer Basin and located in approximately ten sewersheds. Granite Inliner's trenchless process of a cured-in-place pipe will allow the city to repair underground piping with minimal disruption to the public.
Construction began in January 2019 and is scheduled to be completed in February 2020.
