Claros, the Water Intelligence System, is a suite of software solutions for water treatment plants. It represents a great advance in digital technologies for the water sector, offering a suite of software solutions that helps plant operators optimise their facilities. Carlos Ginés, Software Solutions Manager at Hach Spain tells us about it in further detail.
Question: What is Claros, The Water Intelligence System, and what are its applications in the water sector?
Answer: CLAROS is a platform developed by HACH to see to the digital transformation in the water sector. It is a new paradigm for plant operation, data management and decision making.

Q: Please tell us about its main features.
A: First, I would like to highlight as a main feature that it manages all the information produced by our equipment as well as any other plant components. CLAROS will not only help you access information from any mobile device, but also you can make decisions in real time with the support of its algorithm that prioritises different warnings.
We no longer need to be physically at the plant in order to make decisions or access all the information about it. We have all the information within our reach, any time and from anywhere.
Secondly, I would highlight the connection between all instruments, both field and lab instruments; this allows calibrating and synchronising the instruments, while you maintain the traceability of all information. Everything will be interconnected. It enables previously unseen data traceability, as well as reducing exploitation costs significantly.
Finally, and not less importantly, CLAROS also enables optimising processes, resulting in savings in consumables and operating time.
Q: How does it differ from other technological solutions in the market?
A: The main difference between the CLAROS platform and other solutions is our extensive knowledge of the water sector and the large investment in development done by our company.
Hach has more than 85 years of experience offering solutions in the instrumentation market, leading important innovations in this area. The knowledge our company has accumulated throughout these 85 years is reflected in our CLAROS platform. Technology allows us to be closer to our clients and contribute more value for less.
Out trajectory positions us as leaders in the digital transformation of the water sector.
Q: What did the launch of this product mean for the water sector?
A: As any kind of disruptive technology, CLAROS entails a paradigm shift in the way we manage information and make decisions.
Never before was the client so much the focus of a development. Technology allows us to develop the product during its entire life cycle.
This has several advantages, such as responding quickly to the needs of our clients and learning about their degree of satisfaction.
Q: What are the business and development expectations for this type of technologies in the water sector?
A: The expectations for the application of industry 4.0 to the water sector are huge. In this market, where regulations are getting stricter and companies constantly strive to be more efficient, technology and Big data applications become their main allies.
Q: Finally, what are the main challenges for this technology?
A: As with any revolution, the main challenge ahead are the people.
We must be able to create solutions to make our life easier and be more and more efficient. All of this while we keep clients and managers as the most important part of the process.
