WILL Water Innovation Living Lab accelerator programme, the project for start-ups and spin-offs in the water sector created to incentivise innovative ideas and solutions, draws to a close at the end of this week. The first cohort will present their projects at the final event organized at the CSMT Hub, Brescia, Italy on Friday, April 21 at 14:00.
The meeting will feature pitches from the 10 selected start-ups from around the world: South Africa, UK, Germany, USA, Canada, and the Netherlands. The focus is to identify innovative solutions designed to provide concrete answers to the many challenges of the water and wastewater sector, including: water and wastewater treatment; real-time data analytics; leak detection and smart water network; sludge treatment and nutrient recovery; energy efficiency and GHG emission reduction.

The event will feature include a best-practice presentation by the Dutch company LG Sonic, a leader in water management and algal bloom control. The event will close with a panel discussion on technological innovation in the water sector, looking at opportunities and new challenges, with the involvement of all project partners: Bonomi Group, Isle Utilities, CSMT, Acque Bresciane Srl SB and the University of Brescia.
The WILL accelerator programme was launched on January 13 2023: sixteen weeks of training and coaching on issues related to running a start-up/spin-off, from legal aspects to business model & go-to-market, from investments to marketing. During the course, start-ups were able to work directly with companies and utilities to test some of the technologies, demonstrating a mutual exchange of experience and expertise in an Open Innovation approach.
