The National Water Company (NWC), a Saudi joint stock company fully owned by the government (namely the Public Investment Fund), was established to provide water and wastewater treatment services in accordance with the latest international standards.

The National Water Company (NWC), represented by the Central Cluster, announced that it has embarked on implementing 30 new water and sanitary drainage projects in the Riyadh region, with a total length of lines and networks of 1,955 kilometers, at a total cost of nearly 2 billion Saudi Riyals  ($533 million). These are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to implement its strategic plans to establish infrastructure in the water and environmental services sectors, and based on its initiatives to increase the coverage rates of the services it provides to its customers.

NWC explained that the water projects it has started to implement amounted to 16 projects in the city of Riyadh and in a number of governorates in the region. The company noted that they cover parts of the following districts in the city of Riyadh; namely Al Taawun, Al Janadiriyah and Leban, Al-Diriyah, Dirab, and parts of Al-Quwaiyah, Afif, Al-Dawadimi, Al-Muzahimiyah, Al-Reen, Al-Kharj, Hawta Bani Tamim, Al-Hariq, Al-Majma'a, Al-Zulfi, and Thadiq governorates, and Al-Ayyyinah and Al-Jubailah centers, with line and network lengths exceeding 1,192 kilometers in addition to the construction of 18 water reservoirs with a total capacity of nearly 85,000  cubic meters and pumping stations with a daily volume of over 247,000 cubic meters at a total cost of over one billion Saudi Riyals.

NWC further elaborated that the sewerage projects that it started implementing in the region amounted to 14 projects in the city of Riyadh and in some governorates in the region. The company indicated that these projects include parts of the districts of Al-Munsiyah, Al-Mu'aizilah, Al-Hazm, Namar, and Al-Awali in the city of Riyadh and the implementation of separate sewerage lines in a number of Riyadh city districts and parts of Al Zulfi, Al Ghatt, Shaqra, Muzahimiyah, Al-Kharj and Houtat Bani Tamim governorates, with line network lengths of nearly 763kilometers, in addition to lifting stations with a capacity of 117,000 cubic meters per day, at a total cost of more than 902 million Saudi Riyals.

NWC pointed out that this new package of projects is a continuation of what it announced in May 2024 that it would start implementing 46 projects worth more than 1.6 billion Saudi Riyals, and in August 2024 that it would start implementing 20 projects worth about 1 billion Saudi Riyals.

The company stressed that the package of projects is part of its efforts to strengthen the water distribution system, and eliminate environmental damage and achieve water security and environmental balance, confirming that it continues to implement its strategic plans to increase operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors according to the highest standards of quality and performance to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's ambitious Vision 2030.
