New Jersey American Water announced it has completed its acquisition of the Roxbury Water Company, a family-owned and operated water utility that provides service to nearly 4,000 customer accounts in Roxbury Township, Morris County, N.J. The acquisition was approved by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities on December 18, 2018.
“New Jersey American Water is proud to be the new water service provider for our new Roxbury customers. We have been providing safe, reliable service to customers in the state for more than a century, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and delivering that same standard of excellence to these new customers,” said Deb Degillio, president of New Jersey American Water.
Customers will be receiving a letter from New Jersey American Water this week with information about the acquisition and an invitation to a community meeting on January 23, 2019. More information is also available on a dedicated page of the company’s website, www.newjerseyamwater.com, under Customer Service, Roxbury Water. Additionally Roxbury Water Company’s two field employees accepted offers to join New Jersey American Water, providing important continuity that will allow for a smooth transition.
In addition to growing the company’s customer base, the acquisition of this system will help strengthen New Jersey American Water’s ability to provide water in the water scarce Highlands Region. The added assets and systems will become part of the company’s North Operations region, which serves more than 90,000 customer accounts in 32 municipalities in Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Warren counties.
New Jersey American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 2.7 million people.
