New Mexico Water announced that Cynthia Apodaca has been selected to lead the New Mexico business unit as General Manager. She succeeds Jeremiah Mecham, who is now a District Manager at California Water Service, a sister company to New Mexico Water.
Apodaca, who has served as the Interim General Manager since April, started her career with New Mexico Water in 2002 as Controller. Prior to joining New Mexico Water, she spent 10 years in managerial roles with local New Mexico companies. Apodaca has a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix.
"Cynthia has been a tremendous asset to New Mexico Water for the past 17 years, and her combination of leadership skills, intelligence, community involvement, and utility knowledge will ensure New Mexico Water Service customers continue to receive the same quality, service, and value that they are accustomed to," said Paul Townsley, Vice President, Corporate Development and Chief Regulatory Officer.
New Mexico Water Service serves about 16,000 people through 8,200 water and wastewater service connections in its Rio Communities, Rio Del Oro, Meadow Lake, Indian Hills, Squaw Valley, Elephant Butte, Sandia Knolls, Juan Tomas, and Cypress Gardens systems in New Mexico.
