The Convention on Wetlands, called the Ramsar Convention, is the intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.

The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands is pleased to announce that Ms Flore Lafaye de Micheaux has been appointed to the position of Senior Advisor (Europe).

Flore brings to the Secretariat deep and highly relevant scientific, policy and governance experience, having worked with IUCN and the Government of France, most recently as a Head of the French delegation to the Convention on Wetlands “COP14” meeting which was held last year.

Flore holds a PhD in political ecology and master’s degrees in environmental sciences, with practical work experience in environmental and water policies, flood management, coastal ecosystem restoration and international cooperation.

Flore joined the Secretariat on 15 June 2023, acting as the lead contact point for the Europe Region and its 48 Contracting Parties, as well as taking a global lead role in supporting the Secretariat’s work in thematic areas. She is a member of the Secretariat’s Senior Management Team.
