The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has announced the issuance of the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development of the East Riyadh Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) project.
Located in Riyadh, the project is designed to support the city’s growing infrastructure needs and enhance wastewater management capacity. The ISTP will be implemented under a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model, with a concession term of 25 years.
According to SWPC, the project will have a treatment capacity of 200,000 cubic meters per day (m³/d) in its first phase, which will later expand to 400,000 m³/d in the second phase. The targeted date for the start of commercial operations is set for 2029.
The scope of work also includes the development of a treated sewage effluent (TSE) transmission pipeline, which will facilitate the distribution and reuse of treated water for non-potable purposes.
The East Riyadh ISTP is part of SWPC’s broader initiative to enhance private sector participation in the Kingdom’s water sector and to ensure sustainable water management aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
