Scottish Water is proud to be one of a number of organisations which have signed up to the Construct Zero Five Client Carbon Commitments – simple, practical steps that organisations can take to show how they are reducing their carbon emissions and by when.
They were launched by the Construction Leadership Council, a body which works with the construction industry and Government to support the industry.
Scottish Water’s Beyond Net Zero ambition has a 2040 target, five years ahead of the Scottish Governments target. Scottish Water is at the forefront of reducing carbon in construction, working collaboratively with its delivery partners and wider supply chain.
Work to date on has seen a carbon reduction of around 25% from its 2021 baseline.
Ian Watt, Scottish Water’s Beyond Net Zero Delivery Manager, said: “We have already employed a variety of techniques such as low carbon site establishments, off-site construction, switching to low carbon materials and refurbishing assets rather than replacing them as we move towards achieving our ambitious targets. These also align with the five client carbon commitments”.

The launch of the commitments signifies a change in the UK construction industry with major infrastructure clients coming together to pledge their support for a series of game changing commitments to embrace cleaner, greener and more sustainable ways of working.
