About the entity

Infrastructure giant AECOM has announced the acquisition of Scotland-based Allen Gordon LLP, a move set to significantly strengthen its Water and Energy platform across the U.K. and Ireland. The deal comes as the region gears up for more than £250 billion in anticipated infrastructure investment over the next decade.

Founded in 1971, Allen Gordon has built a solid reputation for delivering technical design and advisory services to top-tier clients in the water utilities and renewable energy sectors.

“We are delighted to have the Allen Gordon team join AECOM at a critical moment when spending is expected to accelerate across the water and energy markets”, said Richard Whitehead, chief executive of AECOM’s Europe & India region. He noted Allen Gordon has strong relationships with key clients across the region and maintains substantial framework capacity from repeat clients.

The integration of Allen Gordon enhances AECOM’s ability to meet growing demand and strengthens its position as a leading player in one of the world’s fastest-growing water and energy sectors. The two firms have previously collaborated on major regional projects, and this formal partnership builds on their successful history.

Beverley Stinson, chief executive of AECOM’s global Water business, noted, “We have a stated goal of doubling our water business globally over the next five years, and the addition of the Allen Gordon team strengthens our offering in one of the fastest growing markets in the world.”

Stephen Munro, Partner at Allen Gordon, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, saying, “By joining the world’s number one-ranked water design firm, we will leverage our combined strengths, strong local commitment and client credibility to jointly deliver on growth opportunities that accelerate our collective ambition to be the leading consultancy in the UK&I market.”

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
