Anglian Water Services has awarded a major multi-year consultancy framework covering ecology and hydrological surveys and assessments across its operational regions in eastern England. The contract award brings together 25 specialist firms under two lots with a combined value of nearly £70 million over 15 years.
Lot 1, focused on ecology surveys and assessments, was awarded to 23 suppliers and carries a framework value of £51.6 million including VAT. Services under this lot span baseline ecological surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) metric calculations, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and post-construction monitoring. Lot 2, covering hydrological surveys and assessments, was awarded to 6 firms at a value of £18 million. Its scope includes river flow measurements, groundwater monitoring, flood risk assessments, and hydrological impact assessments.
Both lots run initially from 12 June 2026 to June 2031, with two possible five-year extensions taking the maximum term to 2041. Individual call-off contracts are expected to range from £10,000 to £250,000, allocated through direct award or mini-competition. Rates will be fixed for the first two years, with review provisions thereafter.
The framework will support Anglian Water's AMP8 capital delivery and environmental programmes across regions including Norfolk, Essex, Lincolnshire, and Hartlepool. It is also designed to evolve alongside emerging technologies, with provisions for drone-based data capture, AI-assisted habitat classification, real-time hydrological monitoring, and digital twin modelling for environmental impact forecasting.
