Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, is on track to award a consultancy contract in early 2025 for the development of a new pumping station and treatment works project within a seasonal lagoon, a project that will encompass design, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) services, reports Zawya.
The contract, issued on July 21, 2024, had commercial bid submissions closed by September 29, 2024, a source revealed.
According to the source, the contract is expected to be awarded by January 2025, with the project aiming for completion by late 2028. The total project cost is estimated at $40 million.
Key project components include the construction of a pumping station, rising main, water treatment plant, and a transmission line that will channel treated water either directly to local farms or through a D-Line connection. Additionally, samples of Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) stored in the lagoon will be analyzed to establish critical design parameters for the water treatment facility.
