Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister, has inaugurated a 220 kV electricity transmission station and a water distribution station at the Al Hidd Housing Project, informs the Bahrein News Agency. The inauguration was attended by key officials, including Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, as well as representatives from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by CEO Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad.
The $85 million electricity and water infrastructure projects aim to meet the growing demand in the Al Hidd area, supporting both residential and urban expansion. The water distribution station boasts advanced monitoring and control systems, with a storage capacity of 2.34 million gallons. It is designed to ensure a reliable water supply to the residents of the Hidd Housing Project.
Shaikh Khalid emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure in housing projects, praising the efforts of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) under Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed's leadership for providing high-quality services. He also acknowledged the significant role of the Saudi Fund for Development in Bahrain’s infrastructure growth through the Gulf Development Programme.
Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, CEO of the SFD, reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between Bahrain and the fund, which dates back to 1976. He reiterated the SFD’s ongoing support for Bahrain’s development projects, aimed at achieving sustainable growth.
The President of EWA expressed gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister for his role in advancing key infrastructure projects and highlighted the authority’s commitment to upgrading Bahrain's electricity and water networks to meet future demands.
