The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) of Bahrain has initiated the pre-qualification process for developers interested in bidding for the Sitra Independent Water and Power Plant (IWPP) project.
This venture will be executed under a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) model. The planned facility is designed to deliver a power generation capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW) along with a sea water desalination capacity of 30 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD).
EWA stated that the pre-qualification phase commenced on November 10, 2024. Interested developers are required to procure the necessary documents by December 1, 2024, with submissions due by December 11, 2024. The submitted applications will be reviewed starting December 12, 2024.
