About the entity

Buraydah-2 Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (Buraydah 2 ISTP) in Saudi Arabia's Buraydah, located in the Al Qassim region, is on track to commence commercial operations in the middle of 2024, Zawya reports.

The projected completion date was officially announced during a site visit statement made by the project's procurer, the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC).

Developed under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model, the sewage treatment project boasts a capacity of 150,000 cubic meters per day (m3/day) and is set to be operated for a 25-year period by Desert Well Water Treatment Company. This company is a joint venture of the Spanish-Saudi consortium, comprising ACCIONA, International Water Distribution Company (Tawzea), and Tamasuk Company.

Notably, the project reached financial close in March 2022, signifying a significant milestone in its development.
