The Inland Empire Utilities Agency has formally appointed Kevin Alexander as its General Manager, confirming his leadership following a period in the acting role for the Southern California utility serving more than 950,000 residents. The decision was approved by the Board of Directors on April 15, 2026, and took effect on April 16.
Alexander steps into the role after serving as Acting General Manager, bringing over 30 years of experience across water, wastewater, and recycled water systems. His professional background spans engineering, operations, and executive leadership in both public agencies and the private sector, positioning him to oversee IEUA’s complex portfolio of supply, treatment, and reuse programs.
In a statement, Alexander said: “I’m honored to step into this role and continue serving our community. Having worked closely with the IEUA team over the last year and a half, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and expertise that drive this Agency forward. Together, I hope to continue to build on that strong foundation to provide reliability, transparency, and sustainable water management for our communities.”
IEUA Board President Steve Elie emphasized continuity and sector expertise as key factors behind the appointment. “Kevin brings a wealth of experience and deep knowledge of the Agency’s operations. His leadership and expertise will be invaluable in ensuring stability in the region,” he stated, adding that Alexander’s background will support the Agency’s long-term mission.
The appointment comes at a time when utilities across the western United States are strengthening resilience strategies and diversifying water supply portfolios. IEUA’s integrated approach—combining wastewater treatment, recycling, and regional planning—will remain central under Alexander’s leadership as the Agency continues to address evolving water management challenges.
