California American Water (CAW) has chosen Covenant Technical Solutions™ (CTS™), a leading provider of integrated water solutions, to spearhead a progressive design-build initiative aimed at removing hexavalent chromium from multiple well sites in Southern California. The effort will support CAW in meeting the newly implemented maximum contaminant level (MCL) standards while ensuring operational efficiency.
In response to California's updated hexavalent chromium (Chrome 6) regulation, which came into effect in October 2024, public water systems must comply by October 1, 2026. To address these requirements, CAW is investing in state-of-the-art treatment systems to safeguard drinking water quality for its customers. CTS will apply a progressive design-build methodology to evaluate water quality at each location and implement the most suitable treatment technologies.

The CTS-led team will include top-tier industry professionals, partnering with Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering (PACE) as the Designer/Engineer of Record and Hazen & Sawyer serving as the Chromium Technical Advisor. This collaboration emphasizes strategic planning and innovation in addressing water quality challenges.
Backed by a strong history of successful project delivery, CTS continues to lead advancements in water treatment. Work on the project began in March 2025 and is on track for completion by the October 1, 2026 regulatory deadline.
