CRH to acquire Axius Water from KKR and XPV Water Partners

KKR, the global investment firm, and XPV Water Partners, which focuses on water-related investments, have agreed to sell Axius Water to the building materials company CRH.

Axius Water was established in 2019 by KKR and XPV to consolidate companies in nutrient management. Since its formation, it has expanded into a provider of advanced water quality solutions.

Kyle Matter, KKR’s managing director and head of North America Global Impact, said the company was created to address growing water quality challenges in developed markets. He described Axius as “purpose-built to meet a critical global need” and expressed confidence that CRH would continue the company’s growth.

Chris McIntire, Axius Water’s chief executive, said the company had developed a skilled team and a range of capabilities in water quality, and that the partnership with CRH would help expand its solutions to more communities.

David Henderson, managing partner at XPV Water Partners, added that the firms had supported Axius in building out its core scaling capabilities, and said CRH was well positioned to take the platform further.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
