UAE’s Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) could award the main construction for a 30 million imperial gallons (MIG) Hatta Water Reservoir project in the first quarter of this year, according to ZAWYA’s source aware of the project details.
The source said to ZAWYA that “The project was re-tendered on 21 October 2020 with a commercial bid submission date of 21 December 2020. The main construction contract award is expected to be by March 2021.”
According to the source consulted by ZAWYA, this project is valued at $50 million and it is scheduled for completion by December 2022.
Last year, DEWA had issued tender twice and cancelled both tenders. In February 2020, DEWA issued the first tender, giving companies until May 20, 2020 to submit their bids. The joint venture of China National Chemical Engineering, Target and Jima Construction sent in the highest bid of $61.13 million, while the lowest bid was received by Ghantoot Energy And Water of $37.07 million.
Once the first tender was cancelled, the company re-issued the second tender on 6 July 2020 with a bid submission deadline of 5 August 2020. Numerous companies submitted their bids, including Binladin Contracting Group, with a bid of $39.20 million, Shapoorji Pallonji ($41.13 million), GBH International Contracting ($43.34 million), United Engineering Construction ($44.38 million), Airolink Building Contracting ($45.42 million), and Strabag Dubai LLC ($47.17 million).
