Drake & Scull International, a prominent contractor based in Dubai, has successfully secured a contract valued at Dh307 million ($83.6 million) for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Jordan, reports Utilities Middle East.
This project stands as a pivotal endeavor aimed at alleviating the pressing water crisis faced by the country.
The upcoming facility is situated in the north-western city of Ar-Ramtha and is set to be executed by a subsidiary of DSI, operating in collaboration with a local Jordanian company. This significant development was confirmed through a statement released by DSI on Friday.
Jordan’s government received bids from several major companies for the project, DSI said.
Marking a momentous achievement, this treatment plant project in Jordan holds special significance for DSI. It marks the company's first entry into such projects within the region “in a long time”.
Jordan's aspirations for enhanced water resources hinge on wastewater treatment initiatives. At present, the nation oversees the operation of 34 wastewater treatment plants, contributing approximately 14 percent of its overall water supply.
