Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has received expressions of interest (EOIs) for two projects. The first project is the Eastern Province independent strategic water reservoir, which will be constructed with an indicative water storage capacity of 3,510,000 m3. The second project is the Al-Ahsa independent strategic water reservoir which will be constructed with an indicative water storage capacity of 1,389,000 m3.

A total of 21companies, including 10 Saudi companies, expressed their interest in The Al-Ahsa Eastern & Province project ISWR as follows:

  9. CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY LTD.
  10. Civil Works Company Ltd.
  11. Contrax International DMCC.
  12. Gulf Investment Corporation.
  13. Marubeni Corporation.
  14. Metito Utilities Limited.
  15. Mowah Co.
  16. Mutlaq Al-Ghowairi Company (MGC).
  17. Nesma Co. Ltd.
  18. Orascom Construction (OC).
  19. TECTON Engineering & Construction Saudi Contracting Company.
  20. Thabat Construction Company Ltd.
  21. Vision International Investment Company.

SWPC also announced that the Request for Qualification (RFQ) for The Eastern Province project & Al-Ahsa Independent Strategic Water Reservoir has been issued to the interested companies.

The Project will include water reservoirs and all the associated infrastructure and facilities.

SWPC intends to conduct a competitive tender to select a private sector developer (or developer consortium) for the development, financing, procurement, implementation, operation, maintenance and transfer (BOOT) of the Project.

The successful bidder, through a project company to be incorporated, will provide the required storage capacity to SWPC under a 30-Year Water Storage Agreement (WSA).

SWPC’s obligations under the WSA will be supported by a credit support agreement from the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
