Ferrovial, a prominent global infrastructure firm, has announced that its construction subsidiary, Webber, has secured nine new contracts worth a combined $1.2 billion. These projects span roadway improvements, bridge construction, water treatment plant expansions, and road maintenance across various U.S. states, reinforcing Ferrovial's presence in its largest market.
Ferrovial acquired Houston-based construction company Webber in 2005. Over the past 20 years, the company has grown to improve roads, bridges and water infrastructure across more than 10 states in the U.S.
Major water infrastructure projects in Texas
A significant portion of the awarded contracts focuses on water infrastructure improvements in Texas, undertaken by Ferrovial's waterworks division, PLW Waterworks. Key projects include:
- Walnut Branch WWTP and Geronimo Creek WWTP ($178 million): This substantial project involves deconstructing the Walnut Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant and expanding the Geronimo Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Seguin. The expansion will enable the plant to handle a 12 million gallons per day (MGD) average daily flow, significantly enhancing the city’s sewage treatment capacity.
- Paul Phillips Water Purification Plant ($90 million): Located in Weatherford, this project will expand the plant’s capacity from 12 MGD to 18 MGD, improving water purification capabilities.
- South Water Treatment Plant Expansion ($58 million): In Tomball, this initiative will double the plant’s capacity from 1.5 MGD to 3 MGD, replacing the existing treatment method with an advanced aeration basin system.
