GHD has been appointed by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) in the United States to carry out the Assimilative Capacity Water Quality Modeling program, an initiative tied to regional water planning and permitting evaluations.
The program is intended to improve how water quality assessments are conducted across the state. GHD will work alongside the Georgia EPD to support clearer and more efficient analysis as pressures on water resources continue to evolve, with a focus on long-term environmental management.

According to the company, the project team combines decades of experience working in Georgia with detailed knowledge of the state’s hydrology and water quality conditions across rivers, streams, lakes, and reservoirs. Their work includes handling surface water and weather data, maintaining large datasets related to water resources, and applying Geographic Information Systems within integrated modeling frameworks.
Water Environment Consultants, Inc. (WEC) and River to Tap, Inc. (R2T) are participating in the project as subconsultants.
