About the entity

Global Omnium and Telefónica Tech announced a partnership agreement with Google Cloud for the coming years, aiming to revolutionize, advance, and further progress the water sector through the use of AI. This initiative lays the groundwork to enable the water sector to take a new technological leap toward more efficient management, ensuring correct traceability of all processes and providing not only excellent but also comfortable service for customers.

Over the past decade, Global Omnium has undergone an ambitious digital transformation process, and now, thanks to this alliance, it is poised for a new technological leap through Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, business continuity, and predictive and preventative technological models for any scenario.

Within this agreement, Telefónica Tech is providing Global Omnium with Google Cloud’s public cloud solution to migrate their workloads, gaining scalability and flexibility. Telefónica Tech has certified personnel across all technologies to offer professional services aimed at providing customers with the best cloud environment for each service.

The collaboration has already borne fruit with the development of an innovative surveillance project for the protection of Posidonia in the marine environment. Through the analysis of underwater videos with AI, Global Omnium can monitor the state of Posidonia meadows, detect potential threats, and take conservation measures.

This collaboration has allowed the protection of a high environmental value area on the Mediterranean coast and has opened new channels of collaboration, culminating in this new agreement.

“This agreement allows us to make a qualitative leap in our corporate technology strategy and lays the foundations for what we at Global Omnium envision as the future of water sector management: being even more efficient and effective by working with more information, better forecasting, and increased security,” said Dionisio García Comín, CEO of Global Omnium. “Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and its interpretation, we will be able to optimise even further, enhance the efficiency of our operations, and offer better service to our customers.”

Daniel Aldea, CEO of Altostratus, part of Telefónica Tech, said: “At Telefónica Tech, we have a broad ecosystem of cloud partners to offer our customers the most innovative and appropriate technologies for their business processes. The alliance with Global Omnium allows us to continue supporting its digital transformation by migrating its services to the cloud with the highest guarantees to boost competitiveness and flexibility.”

Isaac Hernández, Country Manager of Google Cloud in Spain, added: “We are excited to see Global Omnium leveraging Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence and data analytics solutions to drive innovation and sustainability in the water sector. By using Google Cloud’s AI, data analytics, and cloud infrastructure, they are not only improving operational efficiency but also contributing to the crucial task of protecting the environment.”

This new alliance consolidates the relationship between Global Omnium and Telefónica Tech, which had already reached an agreement in 2021 to install a total of 150,000 SIM cards with NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) technology to connect 450,000 domestic and industrial water meters for the Valencia-based company.
