On February 11, President Donald Trump nominated Jessica Kramer to serve as the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Assistant Administrator for Water, reports The Hill.
Kramer previously held the role of Deputy Secretary of Regulatory Programs at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. She also played a key role in shaping the water provisions of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) as water counsel for Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), who now chairs the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
In addition to her government experience, Kramer has lobbied on behalf of water utility trade organizations, as well as companies in the energy sector, including Talos Energy, Duke Energy, and LG Chem.
The EPA’s Office of Water (OW) is responsible for ensuring the safety of drinking water and protecting aquatic ecosystems. Its mission includes restoring and maintaining oceans, watersheds, and habitats that support public health, economic activities, and biodiversity.
