About the entity

A Kuwaiti-Indian consortium has submitted the lowest bid for a desalination project in Kuwait, valued at approximately 114.3 million Kuwaiti dinars ($377 million), the Kuwaiti company announced on Thursday, according to Zawya.

Heavy engineering and ship-building company Heisco revealed that it has formed a joint venture with VA Tech Wabag for the project, located in the seaside district of Doha, on the western coast of Kuwait City.

In a statement to the Kuwaiti bourse, Heisco noted, "Our joint venture with VA Tech Wabag has submitted the lowest bid for the tender - Supply & Erection with O&M Services of the Doha SWRO Desalination Plant with Re-carbonation System (Stage-2) - for the Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy."

The contract duration is set at 96 months.

Last month, VA Tech Wabag reported being awarded a $272 million (1,019 million Saudi riyals) contract by the Saudi Water Authority (SWA) to design and build a 300 million liters per day (300,000 cubic meters per day) seawater desalination plant in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
